Colorado Part 2: The Train, Durango

Cameron and I went back and forth about doing the whole steam engine train through the mountain thing for awhile. All of our past vacations have been spent out and about in the wild country and not doing the whole touristy thing but maybe one day or so.

BUT, I guess you could say something kept pulling at our hearts to try it.

And we can both tell you with out a doubt it was worth it.

Weston loved it.

You board the train in Durango, ride for a few hours through the mountains and wind up in Silverton, CO. You have a brief break and can catch some lunch and then you ride it all the way back to Durango.

We boarded at 8:30 in the morning and got back to our car at 5:45.

It is an all day deal, and worth every penny (its expensive) especially if you have a little guy who is vastly interested in the out doors around him and in anything that moves.

While buying our tickets Weston spotted a "train table" much fancier than his one at home, but he was in heaven. Train was a relpica of the one we rode.

He came home with a little red caboose just like the one that was on our train that day :)

He absolutely loved the ride.

Our car was full of really great people who took a huge interest in him and talked to him a lot.

He loved to stand up and point at EVERYTHING and say

"was dat"

(what's that)

Blowing off some steam....

Weston stayed awake most of the way to Silverton, which is three hours or so. He fell asleep the last few minutes before we got off for lunch.

It was a great day. Weston wont remember it, but the experience with him was wonderful.

He slept the whole way back and ate three pieces of watermelon when we got to the car.
